Bootfitting - custom insoles

Three reasons most often cause problems with ski boots:
1. Poorly selected shoes (too big or too small)
2. Mismatch between ankle range of motion and shoe toe angle (restricted dorsiflexion)
3. Lack of a stable base under the foot and distortion of the foot in the shoe.
Individual orthopedic insoles eliminate the problem of not having a good base under the foot. Unlike the standard insoles you'll find in any ski boot, orthopedic insoles stabilize the foot by providing a comfortable bed that prevents the foot from flexing and deforming under the heavy loads of skiing.
Often, a foot that is not stabilized will wobble and slide in the ski boot. In doing so, the bones, tendons and nerves are crushed against the hard shell and cause pain. An unstable foot not only causes discomfort, but also reduces the efficiency and control of the skis. The individual insole stabilizes the foot and eliminates many of the problems caused by hard ski boots.

What is a custom orthopedic insole for ski boots?

Your ski boots come equipped with factory insoles made to fit any type of foot. No two steps are alike. In 90% of cases, factory insoles do not provide a suitable platform for practicing skiing. Individual insoles provide support in areas specific to your feet. They eliminate the empty space under the arch and thus provide a stable platform.
A stable platform is needed to perform the basic bio-mechanical movements when skiing: pressure control, balance on the ski, turn initiation, etc.

Most orthopedic insoles are made of heat-sensitive layers of high-quality laminate. Firmer layers are placed in the arch area, for support; softer layers are found under the heel and under the heads of the forefoot bones (the pads of the foot).

Individual insoles eliminate unnecessary foot movement in the ski boot. They distribute the load evenly over the entire surface of the foot and support the transfer of energy from the foot to the ski system (boot, boot, ski).

With individual insoles, in a properly fitting boot, you are more precise and feel full control over the skis.
