Bootfitting - FAQ

This page provides answers to frequently asked questions about our boot fitting services. The page is periodically updated.

I have orthopedic insoles for my everyday shoes. Can I use them in my ski boots?

The orthopedic insole for normal shoes addresses the foot in dynamics: walking, running. Skiing is a sport that requires the bones of the foot to be relatively static and grouped together. An insole made for a dynamic foot often controls the way the bones unfold when walking, thus leading to movement in the foot (undesirable in the ski boot). Custom ski boot insoles aim to achieve a static balanced stance and prevent foot movement within the boot.

Do you work with customer shoes? I don't want to invest in new shoes, but I'm having problems with my current ones.
We work with the customer's shoes, as well as with all brands of shoes and all types of plastics. Once we have examined your feet and found out what problems you are having with your current shoes, we will advise you on whether we can help with adjustments to your shoes or advise you to look for others.

What warranty do you provide for insoles and shoe modifications?

Shoe insoles and all areas we work on have a 6 month guarantee for a good fit. If there's something wrong with the areas we've treated, we'll fix them for free.

Do you modify compound shoes made of Pebax, Grilamid and other light plastics (Scarpa, Dynafit, Black Diamond)?

We work with Pebax, Grilamid and other plastics with a strong 'memory' effect. Combined shoes are specific not only with the lighter plastic they are made of, but also with the high rubber boards that we shield when modifying. Plastics such as Pebax require multiple moldings to be permanently fixed. They are not subject to salvage, but are susceptible to compression.

I've heard that after modification, the plastic gradually returns to its factory shape. What is the warranty you give for plastic shell modification?

Skisharki provides a full guarantee on the services performed for a period of 1 year. This is extremely important, especially for shell stretching services, because all plastics have a memory effect with a tendency to return to the factory shape. Shell strechs may need to be repeated to prevent the plastic from "retracting". After repeating the procedure, 90% of the plastics are fixed permanently. Polyurethane plastics (used in heavy track shoes) usually only require one procedure. Light plastics have a stronger memory effect.
